1.In March 2006 the NSW Government announced the creation of 40 School Liaison Police (SLP) to work supporting high schools in NSW. By building relationships between police, students and high schools SLP promote the objectives of the NSW state plan Rights, Respect, and Responsibility through building more harmonious communities and reducing crime rates. The Greater rapport between students and police will create a better understanding of the role of police in the community.
SLP will blend crime prevention with operational policing. By attending schools and implementing crime prevention workshops SLP will help prevent students from becoming involved in crime or anti-social behaviour. By being involved at the outset SLP Officers will be able to work with high schools and the community, to address offending behaviour in a constructive way.

Trees contain some of the nature’s most accurate evidence of the past. Their growth layers, appearing as rings in the cross section of the tree trunk, record evidence of floods, droughts, insect attacks, lightning strikes, and even earthquakes that occurred during the lifespan of the tree. Subtle changes in the thickness of the rings over time indicate changes in the length of, or water availability during, the growing season.
Each year, a tree adds to its girth, with the new growth being called a tree ring. Tree growth depends upon local environmental conditions. In some areas the limiting factor for growth is water availability, in other areas (especially at high latitudes) it is the length of the growing season. In areas where water is limited and the amount of water varies from year to year, scientists can use tree-ring patterns to reconstruct regional patterns of drought. In areas where the length of the growing season is the limiting factor, the thickness of tree rings can indicate when growing seasons were longer (during warmer times) and when growing seasons were shorter (cooler times). The study of the growth of tree rings is known as dendrochronology.

The teacher–student relationship is one of the most powerful elements within the learning environment.A major factor affecting students’ development, school engagement and academic motivation, teacher–student relationships form the basis of the social context in which learning takes place.Teacher–student interactions are not only influenced by a number of aspects including gender but in turn also influence a student’s academic outcomes and behaviour.Supportive and positive relationships between teachers and students ultimately promote a “sense of school belonging” and encourage students to “participate cooperatively in classroom activities”.
