These are questions student have to prepare for the Study Plan for Canada study visa:

1.Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted?

This program is designed for graduates of technical degrees or diplomas to explore further studies across the realm of energy management. I will gain an understanding of various technologies and means of power generation through simulated software and theoretical studies. In this program, I will have the opportunity to explore how core technologies in gas and steam are combined with renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. Theoretical calculations in thermodynamic heating systems are compared with actual field measurements in heating systems to provide me with ample practice opportunities in applied utility management strategies, where energy management and conservation strategies are assessed as part of utility optimization. The program will help me to develop leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex industrial processes and teams effectively to meet business goals.
I will study quality assurance and process and project management with a focus on meeting challenges in an industrial environment from operational and strategic perspectives. During the final semester, I will participate in a capstone course where I will work in teams to collaborate, plan, and execute a full energy consumption analysis and develop a proposal for energy efficiency improvements for a company incorporating studies and methods I have learned over the prior three semesters.

2.How relevant is your program selection with your previous education/experience or why you wish to switch your career at this point of time?

I am always been a very curious learner. I have completed my previous education with very good grades. After completing my Master in Engineering, I started working as an Assitant Professor at Gurudeva Institute of Science and technology. I was teaching control systems, power systems, renewable energy, basic electrical engineering. I had the opportunity to interact with many senior professors and industry experts. My interest in the field of sustainable development, energy management, and renewable energy grew during my teaching days. After teaching for 5 years, I joined a Power System company as an electrical engineer, where I used my ideas I learned from teaching. I had to left my job as I was pregnant and went to Oman, where my husband is working in a reputed company. I came back to India in July 2020, and there was a nationwide lockdown in India. In that time, I have considered many career options. After consulting my family and friends, I have decided to pursue my PG course in Applied Energy Management- Renewable Energy. I have realized the importance of renewable energy and its management, it will be my career in the future. The whole world is shocked by the COVID pandemic, we humans need to work on using more renewable energy sources and creating a better world for our future generations.

3. What is your overall educational goal?

My overall education goal is to become a successful clean energy entrepreneur in India. After completing the PG course in Canada, which has abundant sources of renewable energy, I will gain expertise in energy management. As per the Indian Brand Equity Foundation, the Indian renewable energy sector is the fourth most attractive renewable energy market in the world. India was ranked fifth in wind power, fifth in solar power, and fourth in renewable power installed capacity, as of 2019. I will come back to India and will be part of the renewable energy sector which is one of the highest growing markets in the world.

4. Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence or of citizenship and What research have you done into studies in your country of residence or of citizenship?

I have searched about universities providing energy management courses in India. Many institutes in India like MDI Gurgaon, SIIB Pune, NTPC School of Business, and IIT’s are providing these courses. I learned over time that to enroll in for MBA in India, we need to get through CAT/MAT entrance exams, and acquiring a seat in good Universities is quite competitive. I wanted to have more exposure in terms of learning and knowledge. So, I started exploring other options for my studies and found about overseas education which apparently offers a greater opportunity to study in-depth Marketing and Strategy Innovation. I have realized that in India, more emphasis is given to good theoretical scores instead of getting ground knowledge and skills. So, I feel moving abroad fits better in the kind of education I’d like to pursue and the kind of skills I aspire to acquire.

5. How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence or of citizenship?

As per the Paris climate agreement, India has to abide by the following points:

  • To reduce the emissions intensity of GDP by 33%–35% by 2030 below 2005 levels
  • To increase the share of non-fossil-based energy resources to 40% of installed electric power capacity by 2030, with help of the transfer of technology and low-cost international finance including from Green Climate Fund (GCF);
  • To create an additional (cumulative) carbon sink of 2.5–3 GtCO2e through additional forest and tree cover by 2030.

I come from a country that experiences power blackouts a lot so I saw that as a motivation to go into the field of RE because some of the RE technologies are modular e.g. solar and hydro. Renewable energy can solve people’s power problems quickly as opposed to building a large and expensive thermal-fired power plant that can take 5 years or more to build while people will be struggling with power shortages.

Govt is giving subsidies to companies engaged in renewable energy, the cost of RE technologies is going down. In the future, India is planning many solar plants and other RE projects. There will great demand for experts in the field of renewable energy. Therefore, I have very good prospects in India

6) How will you fund your studies?

The entire expense for my education and living will be incurred by my spouse as he is currently working in a reputed company in the middle east. Along with that my parents are financially well-off and have sufficient funds to defray all costs. I have already paid tuition fees for the first year and deposited 10,200 CAD in my GIC account to fund my living expenses.

7) What ties do you have to your country of residence or of citizenship? , What is the incentive to return to your home country?

I would definitely return to my home country because I am a responsible married woman and a mother of an infant, I always give priority to my family life. Along with that my passion to be an entrepreneur in the field of energy forced me to pursue a course in my respective field in Canada.
I also have enough of my ancestral assets and savings to fund my studies and to fulfill my dream to do a startup. I am attaching hereby the proofs of my financial status with my application.
